Resident Secretariat of Western Balkans Chamber Investment Forum opened

The Resident Secretariat of the Chamber Investment Forum, the first joint institution in the region, founded by six chambers of commerce, opened on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, within the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste. The Secretariat will focus on strengthening regional economic initiatives, connecting business communities more closely, removing obstacles to successful business activities and providing a more efficient support to the strengthening of the economy’s competitiveness, reported the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia.

– The business community is looking for concrete solutions. We define our goals and will measure our future results by quite concrete criteria – a simplification of administrative procedures, the challenges companies face and improving business efficiency – said Marko Cadez, president of the CCIS.

Cadez emphasized that the Secretariat would deal with regional economic initiatives and representing the interests of the business community through recommendations to governments for improving commerce, investments and companies’ operations. The body’s activities will also be directed towards promoting the region as an investment destination and connecting small and medium companies in order to get them included in the supply chains of multinational companies.

The focus of the Chamber Investment Forum’s activities in the coming period will be on connecting the economies of the Western Balkans more closely in order to increase the development potentials of small and medium companies in the region through projects and cooperation with the European Commission. Also, efforts will be made to strengthen the role of chambers in dual education, promotion of entrepreneurial education and support to startups and innovations, says the press release by the CCIS.
