Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic stated on June 30 that she expected the draft law on land register entries to be submitted to the National Assembly in July. The law is to implement the e-counter in all property registration procedures.

Following the talks with the International Monetary Fund Mission, she said to the press that the adoption of the law would shorten the time of entering property in the land register from 15 to three days, whereas the procedure was to also include public notaries and the Tax Administration, making the process considerably more efficient.

Mihajlovic emphasized that the reformation of the land register would enable Serbia to further advance up the World Bank’s Doing Business list, where it placed among the top 10 countries looking by reforms last year and where it has “skipped over” 150 countries looking by the issuance of building permits in the past two years.

– When it comes to the Doing Business list, in our talks with the IMF Mission, we touched on the subject of the reforms of the judicial system, where increased efficiency in reaching court decisions is important for an improved rating, which is something that the working group for improving the rating on this list, which includes the minister of justice as well, will also be dealing with – Mihajlovic added.

She said that she had also talked to the IMF about the reforms of the road and railway sector and the realization of infrastructural projects.
