The new Government of Serbia will not feature an electronic government directorate, according to the amendments of the Law on Ministries, but that doesn't mean that it will be canceled. Quite the contrary.

The directorate will remain within the Government as one of its Offices, which entails bringing it up to a new level.

The draft amendment to the current Law on Ministries was submitted to the National Assembly on Friday, June 23, 2017.

This time, the amendments pertain not only to the foundation of the new ministries (EU integration and Environmental Protection), but to the eGovernment Directorate as well. It is important, however, to emphasize that the fact there there will not be a directorate doesn't mean that eGovernment won't be active.

More precisely, bringing eGovernment up to the Office level provides it with more power to carry out its objectives and to coordinate with ministries and local self-governments. This means that it will be one of the Government's fundamental priorities.
