EAR finances construction of Industrial zone "Ečka-Jugoistok" in Zrenjanin with 4m EUR

- European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) will finance construction of Industrial zone "Ečka-Jugoistok" in Zrenjanin with 4m EUR - the Assistant to the Mayor of Zrenjanin, Predrag Stankov, announced today (July 2, 2008).

Stankov said that the tender for selection of contractors was opened and that it would be closed on July 28, as well as that their names would be known already in September. The works will last for 18 months.

Delegation of European Commission to Serbia, led by the Head of Delegation, Žozep Ljoveras, visited Zrenjanin today.

Of total of 105 projects submitted by 27 municipalities and cities, 9 projects met EAR's criteria.

Based on that, as well as on the level of quality of technical documentation, EAR decided to finance four projects. The project with the highest rank is "Construction of Industrial zone Ečka-Jugoistok", so that is realization will be the first to start.

Presenting the project, Stankov said that EAR should finance infrastructural equipping of the industrial zone, that is, water supply system, sewerage, as well as internal road network.

Industrial zone "Ečka - Jugoistok" will be situated on the land at 72 ha with the possibility of broadening of area to occupy 1,000 ha, which will be the best offer of the kind in Serbia.
