Yazaki to initiate production in Sabac – First production line to start, goods shipment in early July

The leading producer of car cables, Japan’s Yazaki, is to put its production facilities in Sabac into operation. A total of EUR 20 million has been invested in raising and equipping the 30,000-m2 factory. The production lines are to be put into operation on Monday, June 12, 2017.

– We are starting with the first production line, where around 250 operators will be working, and the number of 900 employees should be reached by the end of the year. The plan is to have at least 1,700 people by 2019. There may be even more, as there’s enough room, and there’s also a possibility of a further extension by 10,000 square meters – says Milos Davidovic, HR Manager at Yazaki Serbia.

The first shipment from the Yazaki plant in Sabac is to be carried out after July 1, and Davidovic says that the great experience for factories in various countries has now been collected in Sabac, which opens the possibility of the Sabac factory’s becoming a model for other Yazaki factories to follow.

All workers need to be specially educated, and the training courses are carried out in training centers throughout Europe and North Africa – from Morocco to Lithuania.

– The training center is Yazaki’s big strength, because, if the workers are not well trained, we can’t deliver high-quality goods, in which case we stand to pay big penalties. The training can take two days to six weeks. Each phase is followed by testing. If the worker passes the test, they continue on, and if not, they are given another chance to repeat the test – Davidovic says.
