The non-binding bid submission deadline expired on May 30. The state previously extended it three times.
The Government of Serbia published the latest notification of the extension of the process of concession in the Official Gazette of June 7, 2017, and the information was also published today, June 9, in the Politika newspaper. The ad says that “the procedure has been extended at the request of qualified participants”.
The true competition should therefore begin on June 21, once it’s known who has qualified for the second round, which is to take 75 calendar days, making September the earliest date when it might become known who the state is going to put the Nikola Tesla Airport in charge with for the next 25 years, provided there are no new extensions.
The concession entails financing, development through construction and reconstruction, maintenance and management of the airport’s infrastructure and performing the operator’s duties.
A total of 27 interested companies applied to the pre-qualification contest.
