The acting deputy minister of economy in the sector of business entities and business registers, Dusan Vuckovic, said on June 8 that the ministry was working on amendments to the Company Law so as to better protect minority shareholders.

He said that the amendments were necessary in order to remove the problems occurring in practice, but that it was also necessary for the law itself to be brought in line with the EU legal framework.

– To us, the primary goal is to submit the draft law on amendments to the Company Law to the Government and to the National Assembly of Serbia for review and adoption – Vuckovic said.

Vuckovic added that the ministry was also cooperating intensively with the Business Registers Agency on amending the law related to the procedure of registration at the agency from the angle of electronic registration.

– It’s important to establish an electronic link to the registries in the region, primarily in Macedonia, Slovenia, B&H and Croatia, so as to form a unified electronic portal for exchanging data on business entities – Vuckovic said.
