Valjevo purchasing land for expansion of Stefil Industrial Zone – EUR 1.6 million set aside

(Valjevo) The city management of Valjevo has decided to purchase land for the needs of expanding the Stefil Industrial Zone, for which RSD 200 million, or EUR 1.6 million, has been set aside from the budget, Kolubarske.rs writes.

The Decision on the purchase of land was adopted by the City Council, and the final approval is to be given by the members of the City Assembly.

Mayor Slobodan Gvozdenovic revealed at the session of the City Council that the management was already negotiating with the Ministry of Defense and other state institutions about the purchase of land, whereas the Decision on acquiring undeveloped building land specifies that a public invitation is to be placed.

Slobodan Gvozdenovic reminded that the industrial zone on the premises of former Stefil had been bought 6-7 years before and clarified that the management had initiated the acquiring of undeveloped building land for the purpose of bringing production companies and new investors to the town.

– There are serious negotiations with state institutions and the Ministry of Defense about ours acquiring such land – Gvozdenovic said.

The Decision specifies the pertinent details, Kolubarske.rs writes.

– The land is supposed to be a construction complex, that is, a unit consisting of several mutually linked parcels, with a total area of 13 to 17 hectares – it is said.

It is further stated that the procedure of the purchase of land “will be carried out by the Commission, and the acquisition of land will be conducted by a collection of bids through a public advertisement at the market price determined by the competent body of the tax administration”. Finally, the Decision says that “the decision on the purchase of land will be made by the mayor, at the suggestion of the commission”, Kolubarske.rs writes.

They remind that the mayor has not mentioned around seven hectares of parcels in the Stefil Industrial Zone, owned by the city and overgrown with weeds, or if the management has contacted the owners of the land bordering the building parcels “for the purpose of acquiring undeveloped building land and expanding the existing industrial zone”. The most important aspect, Kolubarske writes, is who the land worth RSD 200 million is being bought for, or who the investor is, how much they will invest and how Valjevo and its citizens will benefit from it.
