MIHAJLOVIC: Kragujevac-Batocina highway in mid-2018

(Zorana Mihajlovic) The entirety of the 24-km highway between Kragujevac and Batocina will be completed by mid-2018, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic announced on May 25, 2017.

Mihajlovic said, while taking a tour of the construction site on the roundabout in Zirovnica, that 18.5 km would be completed in 2017, leaving the five kilometers of the Batocina section to be finished afterwards.

– The Kragujevac-Batocina highway is a very important section, of 24 kilometers in length, the construction of which started back in 2009, and I think it's a scandal it wasn't completed a long time ago – the minister said to the press.

She reminded that a 6-km section had been opened to traffic in 2016.

Mihajlovic said that the project for the remaining 5 kilometers through Batocina was being prepared at the moment and that she expected the project to be completed in September, to be followed by a public invitation for contractors.

– Everything, then, needs to be completed next year by June or July, or even during the building season – Mihajlovic emphasized.

She added that the highway was important for that part of Serbia as it connected Kragujevac to Corridor 10.
