"Copper Mill Sevojno" tripled productivity - investment cycle worth about 3.7m EUR in progress

- Five years after privatization, Copper Mill Sevojno has tripled its productivity and reached production of 30 tons per worker - said Executive Manager of the mill, Dragan Subotić.

- The consortium made of majority owners of the "Copper Mill" - "East point" and "Amalco", invested about 21.1m EUR prior to the end of the last year, which is about 4m EUR more than they were obliged to invest according to the sales contract - said Subotić.

Total of 3.5m EUR has been invested in revitalization of the existing equipment, about 15.5m EUR were spent on modernization and procurement of new equipment, while the installation of new information system and introduction of gas required 1m EUR each. The new investment cycle worth about 3.7m EUR has started in "Copper Mill" this year.

For objective reasons, Copper Mill has not achieved projected production in the past five months, but Subotić has no doubt that the ambitious plan for production of about 40,000 tons by the end of the year, 85.5% of which for export, will be fulfilled and that the company will register business profit in amount of 4m EUR.

- The basic problem in operations, besides high prices of copper and zinc, is unreal Dinar exchange rate because it is obvious that the exporters are the ones who suffer the most in Serbia’s macroeconomic reality - said Subotić.
