The basic
conclusion of the international meeting of IT experts, which was held in Herceg
Novi, is that our region requires urgent and large investments in organization
of IT training courses for broad population.
The meeting gathered about
200 participants from the region – Serbia, Montenegro, BiH, Croatia and
Slovenia, who exchanged experiences in field of information and communication
technologies.
The unique message of the meeting and number of issues related to IT education and development of IT society explicitly point to urgent need for increased investments in the national literacy, especially when we talk about use of computers and its benefit to the entire social development.
In accordance with expectations, Slovenia, as the country that is at the highest level in this field in the region, had the largest number of representatives. It is obvious that the IT society in this country is built already from the first lessons in primary and secondary schools and with the rich support from the society through supply of teaching aids and equipment.
In their introductory speeches, Republic Statistics Institute of Serbia, Institute for Strategic Studies and Projections from Podgorica and ASsociations of IT Experts from BiH presented statistical data and current position of these countries as far as use of computer is concerned.
Later presentations fit into already mentioned statistical data, pointing to individual elements of group tables and positive achieved practice, as a model for improvement of information and communication technologies in everyday economic and non-economic life.
