Transportation community of Southeast Europe to be founded in July 2017?

An agreement on the foundation of the transportation community of Southeast Europe might be signed in July at the Western Balkans Summit in Trieste, stated State Secretary of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Miodrag Poledica on Friday, May 21.

– The agreement has been defined in technical terms – Poledica said at the Media Club of the EU info center and explained for EurAktiv that the signing of the agreement at the summit in July was not certain, because it needed to be adopted by all the governments of the region, and it wasn't certain that it would be done in time due to political circumstances in some of them, such as elections.

The transportation community should stimulate the harmonization of legislatures in the said sector in the region, in line with the European legislature and easier accession to the EU for the entire region, he said.

The system would be similar to the way the Energy Community operates, monitoring the implementation of European regulations and carrying out agreements, while having its own secretariat.
