"Alcatel-Lucent" obtained "Ratel" certificate for new UMTS UTRAN radio equipment for quick data transfer in mobile telephony


Company "Alcatel-Lucent" has announced today (June 9, 2008) that it obtained the certificate from the Republic Agency for Telecommunications (Ratel) in Serbia for new UMTS UTRAN radio equipment for quick data transfer in mobile telephony.
Serbia is one of the first countries that will apply that advanced technology for mobile networks of the third generation (3G), which enables quick wireless data transfer.
- Mobile telephony is quickly developing in Serbia and "Alcatel-Lucent" is ready to back local operators to offer advanced mobile services for data transfer in 3G network to their clients - said the President of the company for central and south Europe, Johan Vanderplatse.
"Alcatel-Lucent" delivers equipment to mobile operators in the Balkans and in Serbia, including "Vip mobile", which operates within "Mobilkom Austria group".
French company "Alcatel-Lucent" has over 180 clients in about 90 countries in field of mobile telephony and 3G networks, and it developed commercial 3G systems for quick data transfer and wireless landline telephony and Internet for more than 70 operators.
