Serbia has biggest gold reserves in Balkans

Serbia is 63rd on the new list of the countries with the biggest reserves of gold, published by the World Gold Council.

The list is headed by the USA (8,133.5 tons) and Germany (3,377.9 tons). The third place belongs to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) with 2,814.0 tons.

The top ten also includes Italy, France, China, Russia, Switzerland, Japan and Holland.

When it comes to the Balkans, Serbia has the biggest reserves of gold (18.8 tons), followed by Macedonia (77th) with 6.9 tons.

The 88th spot belongs to Slovenia (3.2), whereas Bosnia and Herzegovina (3.0) placed 91st, RTS reports.

Albania is 98th with 1.6 tons, whereas the final, 100th, spot belongs to Mongolia with 1.5 tons. Croatia and Montenegro are not among the top 100.
