Diners Club account blocked – Criminal charges made against former bosses

The company Diners Club International Belgrade (DCIB) has reported that its account has been blocked by several creditors and that certain sales outlets have disabled the use of the Diners Card.

As stated, serious indications of considerable irregularities in DCIB's operations have been determined and criminal charges have been made against the former management of the company due to irregularities in financial reports.

Following the completion of the transaction of March 2017, by which Erste Card Club d.o.o. (ECC) acquired 100% ownership over DCIB, serious indications of considerable irregularities in DCIB's operations, as well as in the company's financial reports for the previous few years, not presented in the sales and purchase process, were determined, the press release specifies.

For this reason, ECC initiated an all-encompassing process of additional inspection procedures, once again determining the existence of the spotted irregularities, as well as the fact that DCIB's financial reports do not reflect the true state of the company's operations.

The irregularities in financial reports pertain to evasion of liabilities of DCIB towards its creditors, as well as erroneous presentation of claims towards its clients.

ECC and DCIB have expressed regret over the said circumstances, caused by the irregularities in the company's operations in the past, before the takeover by ECC.

The press release adds that there's constant communication with all competent institutions and that DCIB will be transparently informing the public about further developments in the coming days.
