The Republic of Korea will invest EUR 250,000 in equipping the center and maintaining the equipment, as well as in hiring experts to educate the employees at the interactive center. The Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government will provide the premises where the interactive center is to be established and hire three people to work there.
As stated on the official website of the Government of Serbia, the foundation of the interactive center should reduce the digital gap in Serbia, thereby creating a foundation for a quicker implementation of e-governance and a wider use of electronic services for an increased number of citizens and public officials.
The interactive center will organize training courses for using the internet for older citizens so that all citizen categories could use electronic services allowing them to complete administrative procedures without having to go to the counter. Furthermore, this interactive center will organize education for employees in local self-governments, as well as IT seminars and will provide free internet access for its users.
Minister Brnabic said on the occasion that the interactive center was a part of the digital agenda of the Republic of Serbia, which needed to work intensively on catching up with the fourth industrial revolution, with each step on that road being very important for Serbia.
– The opening of the interactive center will enable us to apply the expertise and the know-how and is a logical continuation of our successful cooperation with the Republic of Korea – Brnabic pointed out.
The press release by the ministry says that there was talk at the meeting about how Serbia could implement the best practice and knowledge of the Republic of Korea in educating state officials and in the field of electronic governance, which the country is globally renowned for.
