– It's true that we didn't have land available for raising new factories and that we weren't been able to offer land for a greenfield investment to potential investors until now – says Mayor of Backa Palanka Branislav Susnica.
He adds that 56 hectares in the Zagrada area, at the entrance to Backa Palanka from the direction of Novi Sad, have now been set aside by Detail Regulation Plan to be included in an industrial zone.
– The problem is that the land belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture and we need to solve this problem in talks with those in charge – he says.
The Backa Palanka officials expect the Ministry to meet them halfway, and the municipality would oblige to equip the area infrastructurally. Each interested investor could then be offered a parcel with a certain area, whereas the investor would oblige to hire a certain number of employees, as has already been done in other municipalities.
