World Bank (WB) has
approved about 21m USD worth of loan for the projects for improvement
of energy efficiency in Serbia.
Manager of the Belgrade WB office, Simon Grey, has reminded that the World Bank supported reconstruction of 28 facilities all around Serbia, among which are schools and hospitals, by approving the loans under IDA terms. Social institutions should be reconstructed in the next phase and, in that way, energy efficiency will be improved in them.
On the occasion of Grey’s visit to Primary
School "Vuk Karadžić" in Surdulica, it was said that WB backed
the Government’s project
for energy efficiency improvement in that educational institution with
220,000 EUR.
With the replacement of complete carpentry on the school
façade and reconstruction of boiler room, consumption of heating energy
was reduced by about 50%.
The project included improvement of lighting
in the classrooms.
Grey also visited General hospital in Aleksinac where the similar project of the Government of Serbia was implemented, and WB approved loan in amount of about 230,000 EUR in that case.
