Montenegro and Croatia agreed on revoking taxes for transportation companies

- Starting from June 15th, Montenegrin and Croatian transportation companies will not be paying fee for using roads when crossing from one country into the other - said the assistant to the Minister of Transportation of Montenegro, Mirel Radić-Ljubisavljević.

The fee for using highways, bridges and tunnels will be kept. That has been determined by the protocol, which will be signed next month in Zagreb – said Radić-Ljubisavljević.

She said that it had been decided that transit transportation between Montenegro and Croatia should be liberalized. That means that there will be no licenses for travelling across the territories of both countries any more, while the mixed commission will be deciding about liberalization of other forms of transportation if needed.

Transportation with Slovenia has been liberalized, while the agreement with Macedonia should be signed next month.

She said that the negotiations about resolving of problem of transportation of passengers to Montenegro from Dubrovnik-based Airport Ćilipi were in progress because, according to current regime, Montenegrin buses can only bring the passengers, get back to Montenegro and go to pick the new ones completely empty.

Therefore it was agreed that Croatian side should talk with its associations of transportation companies and tourist subjects and submit its proposal for resolving of the problem.

She also announced that eco-taxes for use of Montenegrin roads would be introduced on June 15th. This tax ranges between 10 EUR for passenger automobiles to 150 EUR for trucks, and Montenegrin citizens will be paying that tax when registering their vehicles.

The tax needs to be paid once a year and the money obtained in that will be used for financing of ecological projects.
