NASA gives Earth up for adoption

There is now a unique way of expressing your love for our planet – you can “adopt” a part of it.

NASA has divided Earth up into 64,000 sections and offered each one of them up for “adoption” through its website.

This is a fun way for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to mark April 22, the Earth Day.

If you decide to take part in this interesting project, you can “adopt” a section containing a prominent site or take up an area in the middle of the Pacific.

Once “adopted”, scientific data on the location is sent to you by NASA, and you can further explore it using a special interactive map.

Of course, you can boast about your adoption on social networks as well, as each adopter gets a certificate from NASA.

Once all 64,000 parcels are distributed, the game starts anew, so that everyone would get a chance to be an “adopter” of our beloved planet.

NASA hopes to stimulate awareness of preserving the Earth this way, even those parts of it that an average person may never see.
