A footwear production facility will open in Mali Zvornik by the end of this year. Initially, 120 workers from the area will be employed there, as reported on the website of the Municipality of Mali Zvornik. The factory, which will be called Brasina-Shoes, will be opened by the company Obuca from the neighboring Zvornik.

The owner and director of Obuca, Vladimir Mijatovic, signed an agreement on subsidies for initiating the production on Thursday, April 6, at the Ministry of Economy.

The production will take place in the former Viskoza factory facility in Brasina. The employment of around 30 additional workers is planned in the next two years.

Since several years ago, the premises in Brasina have been in ownership of the municipality, which will fully develop it in the coming months in order to adapt it to the investor's needs. Obuca has been operating successfully since its foundation a decade and a half ago, and they export the footwear to Italy and France. The idea is to expand the business to new markets by opening Brasina-Shoes, primarily to Russia, as the website of the Municipality of Mali Zvornik says.

Vladimir Mijatovic, owner of the factory, says that he wants to initiate the production in Brasina as soon as possible, but that the problem is that there are few people interested in this line of work, Loznicke Novosti writes.

– There are five women being trained at the moment, whereas ten women finished their training previously, which is a very small number. We need at least eighty women to start the production. I intended to do it as quickly as possible, but now I'm not sure when it will happen. Those interested can apply right away and, if there are enough of them, the production will start as soon as they finish their training. Otherwise, the Brasina factory can only be expected to start operating in September – Mijatovic said for Loznicke Novosti.
