Today (May 23, 2008), Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Vuk
Jeremić, and the Ambassador of India to Belgrade, Adžaj Svarup, have signed the
Program for cooperation in field of science and technology between the
governments of the two countries for the period between 2008 and 2010.
This program defined the priority fields of cooperation between the scientists from Serbia and the scientists from India, such as information technologies, agritechnology and biotechnology, nanotechnology, energy efficiency, water resource management and development of innovation centers.
Minister of Science, Ana Pešikan, who
was present when the agreement was signed, reminded that the delegation of that
Ministry had visited India in February and spoke to the Ministry of Science and
Technology of India, Kapil Sibal.
Svarup estimated that the cooperation would be mutually productive because the Program was designed in the atmosphere of good will and cooperation.
The Program for cooperation in field of science and technology emerged from the Agreement on scientific-technological cooperation between the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro and the Government of India, which was signed on October 28, 2004.
