New government and prime minister in June 2017

(National Assembly) The president of the National Assembly of Serbia, Maja Gojkovic, stated last night, April 2, 2017, that the leaving president Tomislav Nikolic’s mandate expired on May 31.

She said that consultations were to follow.

– Nikolic’s mandate expires on May 31, and the Constitution and the laws say that consultations of the new president with the parties and the selection of the prime minister are to follow – Gojkovic said.


The new president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, confirmed that a new government will be formed in the next two months.

– My mandate lasts for another two months and there’s still a lot of work to be done. The first thing following my appointment as president will be to visit China in an official capacity – Vucic said.

People of Serbia voted in a presidential election on Sunday, April 2, 2017, and the preliminary data shows that the new president of Serbia is the current prime minister and the president of the Serbia Progressive Part (SPP), Aleksandar Vucic. According to CeSID, based on an 80.7% sample, Vucic has won 55.8% of the votes.
