The Belgrade city authorities have tried every possible way of solving the problem of waiting lists in kindergartens, which currently feature more than 8,500 names.

– In the past few months, we have been talking with representatives of a European kindergarten chain, who are interested in raising several dozen such institutions in Belgrade, and there are similar initiatives coming from Russia as well. The interest of foreign companies in the field is growing and I believe that, very soon, no child in Belgrade will be waiting for its place in a kindergarten. There are currently around 8,500 of them on the list, of which 5,000 are a priority, which is preposterous and must be solved – explained City Manager Goran Vesic.

According to him, the problem of lack of space in kindergartens in Belgrade will be solved not just by raising new ones, but also by repurposing certain facilities.

Vesic added that the city was preparing to utilize a part of the EUR 50 million loan meant for turning various facilities into kindergartens.
