Capitol Park to be raised on former Rekord factory location in Rakovica by October – Investment worth EUR 30 million, jobs for 400

The retail park of the British company Poseidon Group, Capitol Park, will be built in Rakovica, on the location of the former Rekord factory, which went into bankruptcy back in 2006.

Following the completion of works, 400 people will be employed at Capitol Park, Beoinfo reports.

The facility will have around 25,000 square meters of lease space, distributed across around 40 big outlets of various purposes, and the construction will take until this October.

Director of Poseidon Group Serbia, James Gunn, said that his company was already present in the Serbian market with its retail park in Sabac and added that it was sure to continue investing in Serbia in the next period.

– The construction of a similar facility in Sombor has already been agreed. Once the works are completed, the people of Rakovica, but also of the neighboring municipalities, such as Cukarica and Vozdovac, will be able to see for themselves the quality of the new urban commercial zone – Gunn said.

Mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali said that, only several months before, that part of Belgrade was full of abandoned halls and closed factories.

– This investment is worth EUR 30 million, and 1,000 employees of local companies will be working here in the next eight months. Once the works are done, 400 people will be employed here – Mali said.
