Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic and Vice President for Applications at Oracle Corporation Central Eastern Europe Cesare Capobianco signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of ICT on March 15. The memorandum envisions cooperation in the fields of digitizing local self-government, digital marketing and training new IT experts in Serbia.

Ljajic pointed out after the signing that the memorandum envisioned the education of personnel in the field and that the company was already cooperating with educational institutions in Serbia.

He said that Oracle had trained 275 IT experts in 2017 and that it cooperated with 191 educational institutions in Serbia.

– Our plan is to increase the number from 1,500 experts annually to 6,000 to 7,000, which is how much Serbia needs in order to catch up with the world in the ICT field – Ljajic said.

He added that they would also cooperate in digital marketing in order to make Serbia a recognizable tourist destination through special programs and software solutions.

– We are initiating a partnership with one of the five biggest IT companies globally, and we will also get special solutions for measuring the efficiency of each employee in the public administration, so that everything would be moving faster – Ljajic pointed out.

Capobianco estimated that the moment was right for cooperation, as new technologies appeared, bringing major changes for users with them.

– This is a time of connectivity and we are now becoming a new type of consumer. Oracle can help Serbia connect with tourist from all over the world in a modern way – Capobianco pointed out.

He added that he hoped that Serbia would become the regional leader in modernization and education of the new generation of IT experts, as well as in creating new experiences for future tourists.

The Oracle Coproration was founded in 1977 and is one of the world's biggest IT companies. It has been present in Serbia since 2003.
