Erste Card Club officially takes over Diners Club International franchises in Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro

Erste Card Club from Zagreb has acquired over 100% of the ownership over Diners Club International Belgrade and Diners Club International Mac Skopje, and it has also indirectly acquired Diners Club International Montenegro Podgorica and DC Travel Belgrade.

The acquisition was preceded by the issuing of the approval by the competent regulatory bodies and the fulfillment of the legal requirements from the share sales and purchase contract between SKB Capital from Luxembourg and ECC, signed in November 2016.

ECC has thereby officially acquired the exclusive right of issuing and accepting Diners Club cards, as well as the responsibility for the future development of the Diners Club brand and the future operations in the territories of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. The transfer of the license, as well as of the future development of operations in the said markets, has also been approved by Diners Club international as the provider of the franchise.

Obrad Sikimic, former head of Diners Club in the territories of Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia, who has spent 25 years actively working on positioning the Diners Club brand in the said countries, will be performing the duty of the president of the Supervisory Board at DCI Belgrade for the next five years.

Erste Card Club has more than 550,000 credit cards issued in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. It is a part of one of the biggest banking groups in Central and East Europe, Erste Group, and its partner in the region, Steiermarkische Sparkasse from Graz.

Aside from the Diners Club franchise in Croatia, one of the 10 biggest and most successful franchises in the world, ECC owns the Diners Club franchises in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia, and it is also present in the markets of Hungary, Bulgaria and Romania in the segment of card acceptance.
