Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) and the German industrial company BASF signed an agreement on cooperation, defining the partnership of the two companies in enhancing the quality of NIS' production program, as well as the development of the technology of the production of petroleum products.

NIS will work within the strategic cooperation with BASF on further improving the quality of oils, lubricants and the entire range of petroleum products, as well as on expanding the offer of high quality products.

Thomas Narbeshuber, Vice President of BASF for South East Europe, said that BASF had been present and active in Serbia for several years and that the company had known it wanted to stay in Serbia as soon as it had come to the country. He emphasized that BASF supported Serbia through forming a strong economic partnership and supporting the education, while also supporting Serbia's dedication on its road to the EU.

– BASF, being one of the leading companies in the sector of car fluids and refinery chemicals, has recognized NIS as a partner with a vision of growth and sustainable development, not just in Serbia, but in the region. This is a company which constantly and continuously invests in the modernization of technology and the improvement of the quality of products it offers. We are looking for solutions for a sustainable future based on innovative solutions and we will help Serbia develop to that end with this agreement – he said.

Kirill Tyurdenev, First Deputy CEO for Refining, Sales and Distribution of NIS Gazprom, said that the agreement of March 2 was based on mutual trust and added that NIS was working continuously on enhancing all technological processes and developing its production program in order to be able to offer top quality products to its clients at all times.

– Together with our long-term partner, BASF, we are moving a step ahead and developing innovative solutions in the technology of the production of petroleum products – he said.

Through this partnership, BASF laboratories in Germany will be authorized to adjust petroleum products to the conditions specific to the Serbian market and the demands of the Serbian oil industry.
