Famous Petar Lubarda painting Besta Fantastica arrives to Belgrade after 64 years

People of Belgrade had an exclusive opportunity to view the renowned painter's 1953 masterpiece for the first time in Eurosalon in Andricev Venac Street on March 1, from 7 pm. “Besta Fantastica”, painted by Petar Lubarda in Belgrade in 1953 and purchased mere months later at the Sao Paulo Biennial, has returned to its city of origin after 64 years.

– Lubarda probably produced this painting for the 1953 Sao Paulo Biennial, where it was exhibited and then bought. It later reached private owners in Lyon, where it stayed until recently, when it was bought in Serbia. The painting is very valuable, of considerable proportions and belongs to Lubarda's best period – says Petar Cukovic, a co-author, together with Jesa Denegri, of a book about the painting's return to Serbia.
