At the same time, Air Serbia reported that it will cancel the route to Istanbul on March 14, due to, as said, strong competition and a drop in demand for trips to Turkey.
The two companies also announced a wide-encompassing commercial partnership. The initial phase of the agreement entails a code-share arrangement, by which Air Serbia will use its “JU” code in AtlasGlobal flights between the Istanbul Ataturk Airport and Belgrade. Following that, Air Serbia will also put its code on international flights of AtlasGlobal to Russia, Moldova, Kuwait, as well as local flights within Turkey.
In turn, AtlasGlobal will enhance its connections by putting its KK code on select regional services of Air Serbia in Southeast Europe and long flights to New York.
– It is our pleasure to be establishing a new partnership with AtlasGlobal – CEO of Air Serbia Dane Kondic said and added that “AtlasGlobal is an excellent addition to our list of code-share partners”.
AtlasGlobal has announced that they will establish the route between Istanbul and Sarajevo in 2017 as well. Sarajevo and Belgrade will thereby become two of this company's 17 new destinations in 2017. Among other destinations, they will be providing services in Tirana and Bucharest as well.
– We are planning to expand to the Balkans. We will establish flights to Belgrade and Sarajevo. The Balkans are a great area for doing business – Ender Karaca, the company's regional manager, said in Belgrade.
Atlas Global has a fleet of 23 planes and maintains air operations throughout Turkey, northern Cyprus, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
