Thanks to the World Bank credit of USD 50 million, even better days are coming for kindergartens in Serbia. The plan is to open 17,000 new places in daycare centers and employ around 600 new kindergarten teachers, said Anamarija Vices, state secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, for RTS.

Anamarija Vicak announced that the ministry would send a survey to local self-governments the next week and that everybody would be able to apply for the World Bank funds.

This way, the ministry will see what the needs are for additional funds for renovating or raising new kindergartens, Vicek said.

Furthermore, the first project component includes equipping the existing kindergartens, she added.

Vicek said that the opening of 17,000 new place in kindergartens all over Serbia was planned after the World Bank donation, which would lead to the need for around 600 new daycare teachers.
