DJORDJEVIC: Arms industry driving engine of Serbian economy

(Zoran Djordjevic) Minister of Defense of Serbia Zoran Djordjevic talked to directors and representatives of the unions of the the companies from the Serbian Defense Industry group about the companies' operations in the previous year and their plans for 2017.

The Ministry of Defense reported that Minister Djordjevic pointed out in the talks that the arms industry was “the driving engine of the Serbian economy, i.e. the potential in which each investment is repaid multiple times”.

– The idea is to invest the profit made by the companies from this group, but also to try having as many investments as possible as a state. We want your companies' production and profit to be as big as possible – the minister said.

Djordjevic invited the representatives of the arms industry to pay special attention to employee safety, which, as he said, “comes first”.

In addition to the group analysis of 2016 operations and initial plans for 2017, the minister also considered the problems of the companies within the group with their representatives.
