New check-in counters open at Constantine the Great Airport – Flights from Nis to Zurich soon

New passenger and luggage check-in counters have been put into operation at the Nis Constantine the Great Airport, and Director Vladica Djurdjanovic has announced that the tenth route from the airport will be established on April 2 – towards Zurich.

Djurdjanovic said that 21,200 passengers had traveled from the airport in January and that there would be at least 300,000 passengers in 2017.

– I am very pleased with how the check-in counters look now and how the job has been done. The most important thing is that these four counters enable us to service two airplanes simultaneously and for passengers not to waste time at the airport – Djurdjanovic said and pointed out that passenger comfort had increased.

Djurdjanovic said that the Nis Airport had not had a single route two years before, whereas it had nine at the moment.

– We will establish the tenth route as well. Beginning with April 2, we will have flights to Zurich, initiated by SWISS. Furthermore, Germania is also to establish two flights to Zurich on 22 June, bringing the number of flights to the city to four – he said.

The director expressed his satisfaction with the current destinations and routes and said that the number could be increased, but that the room for passenger check-in needed to be expanded accordingly.

– As for the repair of the roof of the building, the weather conditions were adverse, with temperatures up to 15 degrees below zero, and the supervisory body couldn't allow the works to be performed during the period. I hope that the works will be completed in the next 60 days or so – Djurdjanovic said.

Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic said that he was very pleased with the development and modernization of the Nis Airport. He pointed out that the airport met all the requirements and that he would familiarize himself with the works on the reconstruction of the terminal building.

He added that the a new tower would be built and that the runway lights project would be realized with Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency SMATSA, so as to enable the planes to land under the most adverse conditions and so that the airport could be operational for 24 hours a day.
