The amount of economic cooperation and trade between Serbia and Portugal is modest, and the low value of export from Serbia to the country points to the conclusion that adequate measures need to be taken towards increasing it in the coming period, the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia (CCIS) says.

According to CCIS data, the total trade of Serbia and Portugal between January and November 2016 amounted to EUR 36.4 million, of which the export of Serbia to the country equaled EUR 16 million, whereas the import from Portugal was EUR 20.4 million.

The statistical data show that the most exported products from Serbia to Portugal were office machines, fruit and fruit products, pipes and plastic hoses, car tires, furniture, passenger cars, unprocessed wood and pharmaceutical drugs, whereas the most imported products from Portugal were vinyl-chloride polymers, footwear, clothing, paper and cardboard, cork products...

CCIS says that, according to the National Bank of Serbia, the total net investments of Portugal to Serbia in the period from 2007 till 2013 amounted to EUR 2.8 million, which places the country in the 52nd spot on the list of the biggest foreign investors in Serbia. From January 2014 till November 2016, around EUR 1.1 million arrived to Serbia from Portugal.
