Starting from tomorrow (April 14, 2008), National Bank of Serbia (NBS) will stop taking mandatory deposit for dinal loans, which used to amount to 20% of the total amount of the loan.

At the same time, the deposit for foreign currency loans, including dinar loans indexed in euros, will be increased from 20 to 30% of the approved loan.

- The new measure of NBS should contribute to increase in share of dinar loans in total number of loans in Serbia and it should ensure higher stability of banking sector - Governor of NBS, Radovan Jelašić, estimated earlier.

As people from NBS explained, the terms for mortgage loans and loans based on credit cards have not been changed.
