As stated, the Secretariat is concerned that the 2012 agreement signed between the governments of Serbia and Russia stipulates that the natural gas supplied on its basis is intended for use in the Serbian market only.
They claim that this constitutes an infringement of the competition acquis under the Energy Community Treaty, with Serbia thereby infringing its obligations under the Treaty.
The country has been given two months in which to act on the allegations of non-compliance with the Energy Community Treaty.
The Energy Community acts as a link between the SEE countries and the EU countries.
