Serbia must adopt 18,000 European standards to be admitted into EU

- Before entering European Union, Serbia should bring its regulations in accord with EU's regulations, which includes adoption of about 18,000 standards of the Union - said the acting manager of the Standardization Institute of Serbia, Ivan Krstić.

- Bringing of standards of Serbia in accord with the standards of EU should be finished prior to year 2012 - said Krstić at the press conference in Belgrade.

Krstić said that the Standardization Institute of Serbia must adopt minimum 80% of all European standards in order to become a member of European commission for standardization.

According to his words, the Institute harmonized 244 standards in February and 130 in March 2008.
