Exchange of goods with India in 2007 - 107.8m USD

- Total exchange of goods between Serbia and India in 2007 amounted to 107.8m USD, said the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Miloš Bugarin, today (April 8, 2008).

At the meeting with the delegation of Indian businessmen who are staying in Serbia within the scope of manifestation "India in Heart of Serbia", he said that the value of import from India in 2007 was about 87m USD, while export was worth 20.8m USD.

- The level of exchange of goods in 2007 came close to the level of exchange in 1990’s, when it amounted to about 109m USD, while its value in 2000 and 2001 was about 20m USD - said Bugarin.

He said that the scope of exchange between the two countries could be bigger because the conditions had been created for that, and he pointed out that that was of mutual interest.

According to the words of Bugarin, the fields of cooperation with high prospects are joint investments in field of agriculture, transfer of technology, increase in scope of cooperation in IT and telecommunications sector, pharmacy and bio-technology, as well as automobile and chemical industry, health tourism, baking, sport and media.

According to the data provided by the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, Serbia's most exported products to India were white sheet metal, machines for classification and separation, machines for processing of rubber and plastic, cooling and freezing devices.

The products that had the largest share in import from India were coffee, drugs, yarn, sesame seeds, diazepins, antibiotics, tobacco and agricultural tractors.
