New 21,000 m2 for airplanes – De-icing platform put into operation at Belgrade Airport

A modern airplane de-icing and frost prevention platform was put into operation at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport on Friday, January 6, 2017.

As stated in the airport’s report, the construction of the platform has extended the maneuvering, parking and traffic areas by 21,000 square meters, of which around 16,500 square meters is meant for aircraft movement.

The technological solution envisions simultaneous usage of the platform by two narrow-body planes or one wide-body plane.

The value of the construction of the platform with side facilities is RSD 557 million, and the works were financed by the Nikola Tesla Airport’s own funds, without incurring debt, it was stated.

As added, by adhering to environmental protection standards during the construction, the ecological aspect of the airport's operations was enhanced, and the implementation of the latest technologies for working in winter conditions strengthens the position of the Belgrade Airport as one of the best equipped airports in this part of Europe and enables maximum efficiency in receiving and ground handling of aircraft.
