Possible opening of three new chapters in Serbia’s accession negotiations with EU around January 20, 2017?

The official Brussels might greenlight the opening of three new chapters in Serbia’s accession negotiations with the European Union around January 20, as Danas learns unofficially from sources in Brussels.

Danas’ correspondents have confirmed recent medial allegations that the chapters in question are Chapter 20 – Enterprise & Industrial Policy, Chapter 29 – Customs Union, as well the confirmation of Chapter of 26 – Education & Culture, which was unblocked by Croatia last week.

Let us remind that Vecernje Novosti reported last week that the Government of Serbia was completing the preparation of all necessary documents for Chapters 20 and 26.

Danas’ sources point out that the Brussels institutions have been on vacation since last Friday and that it will last until January 9, but that it was realistic to expect that the working party for enlargement will reach the decision about the opening of the new chapters in the last ten days of January.
