Foreign trade of Serbia USD 31.16 billion in first eleven months of 2016 – Deficit USD 3.85 billion

The total foreign trade of Serbia in the first six months of 2016 amounted to USD 31.16 billion, a growth of 7.8% compared to the corresponding period of 2015, reported the Statistical Office of Serbia on December 29. Expressed in euros, the exchange of goods amounted to EUR 28 billion and was 7.9% higher than in 2015.

The deficit amounts to USD 3.85 billion (EUR 3.46 billion), a decrease of 10.3% compared to last year.

Exports from Serbia equaled USD 13.65 billion, 11% more than a year ago, and imports amounted to USD 17.51 billion, a growth of 5.5%.

Expressed in euros, exports amounted to EUR 12.27 billion, a growth of 11% relative to 2015, whereas imports equaled EUR 15.73 billion, 5.6% more than a year ago.

The export-import coverage ratio is 78% and is higher than in the corresponding period of 2015, when it was 74.1%.

Viewed by regions, Vojvodina made up the largest part of exports from Serbia (31.8%), followed by Sumadija and Western Serbia (26.6%), Belgrade (25.5%) and Southern and Eastern Serbia (15.9%).

Regarding imports, the Belgrade region participated with 45.8%, followed by Vojvodina (26%), Sumadija and Western Serbia (17.4%) and Southern and Eastern Serbia (9.9%).

Serbia’s main foreign trade partners in export were Italy (USD 2 billion), Germany (USD 1.8 billion), Bosnia and Herzegovina (USD 1.1 billion), Romania (USD 771 million) and the Russian Federation (around USD 730 million).

The most important foreign trade partners in import were Germany (around USD 2.3 billion), Italy (USD 1.8 billion), China (around USD 1.5 billion), the Russian Federation (around USD 1.4 billion) and Hungary (USD 798 million).

The largest foreign trade was with those countries with which Serbia has free trade agreements, and the members of the European Union make up 64.7% of the total trade.
