Vietnamese company interested in buying Secerana Bijeljina

(Illustration) The Vietnamese company Ha Noi Kinh Bac Agriculture and Food JSC is interested in purchasing Bijeljina's Secerana.

Representatives of the Vietnamese company have visited Bijeljina twice so far, where they talked to the administrative receiver of Secerana, Laza Djurdjevic, about the purchase of this former giant.

– We were first visited by the company's delegation a month ago, and then by another, larger delegation several days ago. We had long discussions about their being interested in purchasing Secerana and we explained to them everything about the state of the factory, the debts and claims. I expect to receive feedback from them soon and I hope that the company will buy Secerana and maintain its core activities – Djurdjevic said.

He also said that there was no one interested in purchasing the only sugar factory in B&H aside from the Vietnamese factory.

– Someone else might be interested without making it public. We'll see if someone else will appear before January 18, the date of the second auction – Djurdjevic said.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Republika Srpska says that they aim for Secerana to be purchased by someone who will keep its core activities.

– We will support the purchasers prepared to revitalize Secerana, as the factory can contribute to the development of Semberija and employment of a considerable number of workers and agriculturists – the ministry said.

The first auction of the Secerana property, which was estimated at BAM 23.74 million (around EUR 12 million) at the time, failed because there were no interested purchasers. A new one has been scheduled now, with the estimate reduced by 30% to around BAM 16 million (around EUR 8 million).
