Italy Partner Country: Industry Momentum – We present eKapija's fourth Special Issue

The business portal eKapija, in cooperation with ICE, the Italian Trade promotion Agency, published the fourth Special Issue of the newsletter Italy – Partner Country: Industry Momentum.

Italy is the leading economic partner of Serbia, and the foreign trade amounts to around EUR 4 billion. Around 600 Italian companies operate in Serbia, with over 20,000 employees. In the past decade, Italy has invested EUR 2 billion in Serbia, and 17% of the total Serbian export is directed towards the country.

We talked to Zeljko Sertic, acting director of the Development Agency of Serbia, about foreign direct investments in our country, and you will also be able to read how interesting Italy is to foreign investors.

In his interview for the Special Issue “Industry Momentum”, Sertic emphasizes the role of Italy, whose investors were among the first ones to recognize our country's potential and to start their business here.

There's more room for cooperation in the areas where it has already reached an enviable level, which will certainly be a goal in 2017, and the improvement of the industry will certainly contribute to it.

The main topics are digital transformation and Industry 4.0, discussed by Petar Petrovic of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy has recently approved the three-year financing of the bilateral project “Human-Robot Co-Working as a Key Enabling technology for the Factories of the Future” – a new program of scientific cooperation between Italy and Serbia in the area of technological development in the 2016-2018 period.

The impression is that the leather and footwear industry are the fields in which we could learn the most. Gabriella Marchioni Bocca, president of the Association of Manufacturers of Footwear, Leather Goods and Tanning Technologies (ASSOMAC), talks about the trends in Italy, as well as about the experiences of local companies cooperating with Italy.

We can't forget about agriculture, either. We present you with our impressions from the biggest exhibition of agricultural and gardening mechanization 2016 EIMA International in Bologna, which has set records in the number of visitors and contracted jobs.

We had the honor of talking to Barbara Tamburini, one of Italy's top enologists, whose expertise transcends the country's borders. She has built a reputation as an enologist in Italy, but she is well-known throughout Europe as well. She is one of the rare women to achieve such success in this business.
