Belgrade's Jomil designing and building stadium in Angola – Planned revenues larger than USD 6 million

Thanks to the reputation made in projects of increasing the Angolan army's defensive powers (repairing old tanks, howitzers and vehicles), Belgrade's company Jomil got a new important project three years ago.

The Government of Angola entrusted the company with designing the stadium with a capacity of 25,000 spectators, a job successfully completed by the studio's architects. The stadium will belong to the army club “August 1”, one of the best football teams in the Angolan football league.

– Jomil carries and supervises the project and has been entrusted with installing the metal structure and electrical devices, including the spotlights. We have submitted an offer for spectator seats as well and we expect it to be accepted. Our architect Ana Micovic has designed the entire interior section beneath the stands. Jomil can count on a third of the revenues of USD 20 million, which is how much the investment is worth – said the president of the company, Jovan Cekovic, who is currently visiting Luanda.

The stadium will be named after the famous football club, and there is already the Sports Academy “August 1” in close proximity to this building. The academy provides accommodation for talented young Angolan athletes. In addition to Jomil, the construction company Bkam of Enver Salkandovic, former grantee and worker of the construction company Planum, is involved in the construction. Salkandovic has been a resident of Luanda for over 30 years, is close to the military and has helped several Serbian companies to get projects in the country.

The earthworks and the concrete works are being performed by the Chinese.

The construction has lasted for three years now, and the official opening should take place by the end of 2017. It will be one of the grandest sports facilities in Angola, fit for international games and tournaments of the highest rank, as it will meet all the conditions prescribed by the FIFA.
