Color of 2017 selected

The famous Pantone Color Institute has revealed the color of the year 2017. The so-called “Greenery” has been described as “a fresh and zesty yellow green shade” often seen in leaves.

The color is said to stimulate exploration, experimenting and renewal.

Greenery was mentioned back in September as one of the top ten colors of the fashion industry for the next spring.

Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, said in her interview for The New York Times that the color had been selected as a response to a world that is “very stressful and tense”.

– This is the color of hopefulness, and of our connection to nature. It speaks to what we call the ‘re’ words: regenerate, refresh, revitalize, renew. Every spring we enter a new cycle and new shoots come from the ground. It is something life affirming to look forward to – she says.

The Pantone Institute advises the fashion, manufacturing, interior design and packaging design industries on the usage of colors. They have been selecting the color of the year since 1999.
