Decision about destiny of Horgoš - Požega highway to be made today

Government of Serbia should make the decision at today’s meeting (March 27, 2008) about further destiny of the concession for construction of Horgoš - Požega highway, which is the investment worth over 1 billion EUR.

Concessionaires "Porr" and "Alpine" asked to finance construction of the highway in the first year from their own sources because financier "Deutsche Bank" announced that it was unable to provide guarantees for construction before the agreed deadline.

The Minister in charge of realization of National Investment Plan, Dragan Đilas, said that the Government would try to find compromise solution that would provide additional time for the concessionaires to bring the obligations in accord with the contract they signed with the previous government.

Đilas pointed out that the Government of Serbia could not enter the project for construction of Horgoš - Požega highway if it did not have guarantees that it would be finished.
