Severance payments in Zeleznica EUR 240 – Around 2,000 apply for voluntary leaving from all four companies

Following the meeting of representative trade unions of Zeleznica with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, it was finally agreed for the severance payment to be increased from EUR 200 to EUR 240 per year of service. As the unions' representatives say for Politika, this is the maximum amount they can get from the state at the moment.

Dragan Randjelovic, president of the Trade Union of Railwaymen of Serbia, reminds that the first amount offered was around EUR 170.

– I know that the workers are not satisfied, but this is the maximum amount relative to the salaries. It is often asked why the EPS employees have much larger severance payments. I must say that the criteria for voluntary leavings are the same as in this company, but the salaries in EPS are far higher – says Politika's interviewee.

According to the information by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, all four companies (Zeleznice Srbije, Infrastruktura Zeleznice, Srbija Voz and Srbija Kargo) have adopted plans for optimizing the work force in line with which the number of employees should be reduced by around 3,000 people by the end of the year. So far, nearly 2,000 employees have applied for voluntary leaving. The majority of them, as many as 1,600, come from Infrastruktura Zeleznice.
