Metro lines to intersect at Belgrade Waterfront - One direction from Visnjica to Makis and the other one from Ustanicka to Zemun

The first line of the Belgrade metro should go from Visnjica to Makisko polje, the other one from Ustanička to Zemun, and crossing, according to one of potential options, could be at Belgrade Waterfront.City and state authorities claim we have never been closer to building a subway, but details of the long-awated road for half a century are very poor and rare. Some, however, were revealed by the Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.- The first line could go from Visnjica through the city center, through Dzordz Vasingiton street, Faculty of Economics, Belgrade Waterfron, and Julino brdo up to the Makisko polje. The second line, which crosses the Sava, would go from Ustanicka street to Zemun, and not to Novi Beograd, as previously suggested - the prime minister said.The new plan, compared to the previous one, contains plenty of similarities and differences . The basic has been retained, but an unavoidable point is Belgrade Waterfrontinstead of the Republic Square where metro lines would probably intersected. One would have move on over the renovated Old Sava Bridge to Novi Beograd and Zemun, and the other through the Fair to Cukarica.As for current situation, metro construction start should not be expected before the end of 2019 and the entire project will cost EUR 1.40 to 1.92 billion.

- Feasibility studies have been developed with the French, but also with other foreigners. Part of the construction can be financed by Belgrade, which is conducting a very successful fiscal consolidation – Vucic said.
