World Bank approved loan in amount of 46.6m USD to Serbia

World Bank announced yesterday (March 19, 2008) that it had approved the loan in amount of 46.6m USD to Serbia for improvement of services at local level. That loan will be used by the authorized ministries and local self-governments for enhancement of quality of services in field of health care, education and social care.

The World Bank explains that "Delivery of Improved Local Services" project (DILS) will be implemented during the next four years. Within the scope of that project, aid will be provided for endangered groups, people with special needs, Roma people, internally displaced people and refugees, and part of the funds will be used for forming of institutions that will be protecting human rights.

Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, in association with Permanent Conference of Cities and Municipalities, and Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government and Ministry of Finance are all in charge of realization of this project.
