The chairman of the Executive Board of Raiffeisen Bank, Zoran Petrovic, stated today that the bank had invested EUR 500 million in 15 years of its operations in Serbia and added that he hoped that investments would grow by 40% to EUR 7 million in 2016.
Petrovic added that Raiffeisen Bank's portfolio amounted to a total of EUR 1.5 billion and that the bank in Serbia had around 1,500 employees. He said that Raiffeisen Bank had 85 offices in Serbia at the moment and that the plan was to open another three in 2017.
Raiffeisen Bank expects to pay EUR 6 million of income tax to the budget of Serbia in 2016, as well as more than EUR 10 million in contributions.
Petrovic praised the reforms carried out by the Government of Serbia, which have, as he emphasized, contributed to the country's dynamic growth.
– It's very important that investments have started. The number of loans for investments is growing, and we are also happy about the budget execution and the fact that capital investments have exceeded the plans, which is very good. Investments are exactly what we need – Petrovic said. He added that it was necessary to work on making the tax policy in Serbia more predictable, as it was important for businessmen and that it influenced their decision-making.
– It's also important to continue fighting the shadow economy, as we wish everyone to operate under the same conditions instead of having the shadow economy providing the competition – he added and emphasized that there was also need to focus on implementing the e-government.
Petrovic emphasized that every country needed stable institutions to keep it on the right track and added that the Government of Serbia was oriented towards achieving that.
